Parent Governor vacancy at Newquay Primary Academy
Are you passionate about our future generations? Do you want to make difference to young people? Would you like to develop your own skills? Do you have some time to give to our wonderful community? Have you ever thought about becoming a school governor?
Newquay Primary Academy is currently seeking new individuals to join our Local Governing Board.
To be a school parent governor you don’t need to have a background or experience in education, what we need are people who are over 18; engaged; passionate; committed; confident in having courageous conversations; curious with an enquiring mind; able to challenge the status quo to improve things; collaborative to build strong relationships; critical to improve their own work and that of the board and creative in problem solving….phew! Sounds like a lot but you know who you are.
For those that don’t know, a Local Governing Board provides strategic leadership and accountability to the school. Governors are one of the largest volunteer forces in the country and have an important part to play in raising school standards.
The role of the governing board is absolutely key to the effectiveness of a school.
They are expected to question and challenge leadership and to hold them to account. This is a position with a term of four years and involves meetings approximately every half term. At this stage we are looking for parents of Newquay Primary Academy pupils as it’s really important to get a good level of diversity across the board. If you are interested in becoming a Parent Governor and have the skills, knowledge or experience that you think would be beneficial, please either email Carole Johnson, directly at info@newquayprimary.net or contact her on 01637 874543, option 3.
Closing date for applications: Friday 18th June
