SEN SPECIALIST (with Personal Care) Penrice Academy (Ref: PEN022)
Grade F, 35 Hours per Week, Term Time plus INSET Days
Actual Salary: £13,803 – £17,162 per annum
1 year fixed term contract: 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2022
Penrice Academy is a truly outstanding school, with wonderful students and forward thinking, inspirational teaching and support staff. We are highly successful with year-on-year exceptional results which now put us in the top 7% of schools nationally. We provide our students with the knowledge, skills and attributes to be successful as they move to the next phase of their education. As a school community we have a relentless drive and ambition to provide the best possible educational experience for each and every one of our students. Penrice Academy is part of Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT), a family of Cornish Primary and Secondary Schools, with a strategic vision to ‘learn together to help every child achieve more’.
This is an exciting time to join our large, dynamic Trust, which is responsible for educating learners across four secondary schools, one junior school and eight primary schools with a Free School (primary) to open in September 2021.
We are seeking to appoint an SEN Specialist to take a proactive role in the 1:1 support of the educational, social and physical needs of a student and to meet the requirements as stated in their Education and Health Care Plan. The female student has complex Special Educational Needs with a degree of Personal Care support and we are seeking a member of staff to continue to promote independence with this. It will be a requirement for the successful candidate to support the learning in classes and the extended school provisions, as part of our enriched curriculum and to develop/deliver interventions either in small groups or within the classroom environment.
Applicants who have experience of working with students who require Personal Care and/or Manual Handling needs would be an advantage but not essential. If you are interested in applying for this position and wish to have an informal conversation, please contact Abby Macdonald, Operational SENDCo at Penrice Academy, via email: amacdonald@penrice.org.uk
