Full Time, Permanent Contract – required for September 2023
Penrice Academy is a happy, safe and welcoming school community with highly effective support, care and guidance to allow students to flourish and excel. We are delighted that our 2022 results were simply exceptional, with Penrice recognised as the top-performing Cornish state secondary school for Progress 8 and Attainment 8. But it’s not all about results. Enrichment plays a huge part of life at Penrice with a plethora of extra-curricular opportunities through our Penrice Plus curriculum, offering over 100 clubs/activities each academic year including options in Art, Academic, Sport and Wellbeing. Our priority is to give students the best possible chance of success and happiness when they move onto their next stages in education and beyond. Penrice Academy is part of Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT), a family of Cornish Primary and Secondary Schools, with a strategic vision to ‘learn together to help every child achieve more’. This is an exciting time to join our large, dynamic Trust, which is responsible for educating learners across four secondary schools, one junior school and nine primary schools. There are extensive opportunities to work collaboratively with experienced professionals across the Trust with unparalleled CPD and career development prospects.
We are looking to appoint a Teacher of Geography to join our successful, innovative and dynamic Geography department. You will be joining a high-achieving, inclusive department of six Geography specialists. Students achieve excellent outcomes at GCSE; in 2022 over 65% of the Geography cohort achieved Grade 5 and above, with over 30% achieving Grade 7-9. Geography is a very popular EBACC subject at GCSE and continues to attract over 50% of cohorts each year. Our Geography curriculum has been thoughtfully designed to engage, challenge and inspire our young people. Fieldwork and outdoor learning set within our unique South West regional location is at the core of our curriculum, with every year group participating in fieldwork outside the classroom. The successful candidate will be a dedicated and aspirational teacher with a genuine desire to share their love and passion for the subject. You will be able to inspire students and enable them to learn and progress exceptionally well.
This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced teacher to join our team. We offer an extensive and highly supportive programme for our Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and a diverse range of professional improvement opportunities for more experienced staff.
