Teachers’ Main / Upper Pay Scale
Full Time, Permanent Contract – required for September 2023
We welcome applications for either a Teacher of History or a combined Teacher of History and Sociology post.
Penrice Academy is a happy, safe and welcoming school community with highly effective support, care and guidance to allow students to flourish and excel. We are delighted that our 2022 results were simply exceptional, with Penrice recognised as the top-performing Cornish state secondary school for Progress 8 and Attainment 8. But it’s not all about results. Enrichment plays a huge part of life at Penrice with a plethora of extra-curricular opportunities through our Penrice Plus curriculum, offering over 100 clubs/activities each academic year including options in Art, Academic, Sport and Wellbeing. Our priority is to give students the best possible chance of success and happiness when they move onto their next stages in education and beyond. Penrice Academy is part of Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT), a family of Cornish Primary and Secondary Schools, with a strategic vision to ‘learn together to help every child achieve more’. This is an exciting time to join our large, dynamic Trust, which is responsible for educating learners across four secondary schools, one junior school and nine primary schools. There are extensive opportunities to work collaboratively with experienced professionals across the Trust with unparalleled CPD and career development prospects.
We are looking to appoint a Teacher of History or a Teacher of History and Sociology to join our successful, innovative and dynamic History department. You will be joining a high-achieving, supportive department of six History specialists. History is popular; we have five GCSE classes in total with strong results. In 2022, 45% of our History cohort achieved a grade 7-9 and 88% achieved a grade 4 or above. Our evidence-informed History curriculum has been thoughtfully designed to engage, challenge and inspire our young people. Our students study a diverse range of periods, people and events, developing their knowledge and understanding of local, national and global histories alongside a broad range of disciplinary skills. The successful candidate will be a dedicated and aspirational teacher with a genuine desire to share their love and passion for the subject. You will be able to inspire students and enable them to learn and progress exceptionally well.
