Multi-Academy Trusts to Merge!
Newquay Education Trust and Peninsula Learning Trust have received authorisation from the Regional Schools Commission’s Headteacher Board to merge into a single multi-academy Trust to be known as Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT).
The merger is due to be completed by 1st September 2019 and this new cross-phase Trust will be working with young people aged from 3 to 19 in schools located across mid-Cornwall.
Sarah Karkeek, CEO of NET said, ‘We are delighted with the merger approval. We believe CELT will provide unique opportunities for advancing pupil progress, achievement and wellbeing, collaboration and staff development. We believe CELT will be a champion for young people’
CEO of PLT, Paul Towe added, ‘One thing that will not change as our two Trust become one is our absolute commitment to achieving the very best outcomes for all our young people, preparing them all to lead happy, positive and purposeful lives.’
The Directors of both Trusts have spear-headed the merger seeing it as the way forward to achieve best value and best outcomes for pupils, staff and the local communities their schools will serve.
Chairs Michael Cooper and Geoff Brown explained, ‘Although children and parents will see little physical change at their individual schools where staff, pupil uniform and the school day will remain the same, they will notice the additional opportunities available and the positive impact these will make’.
