Music students from Newquay Tretherras are excited for their new, state-of-the-art music block, providing an inspiring and cutting-edge environment for students to develop their musical talents. The new facility is a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians and empowering them to pursue their dreams in the arts.
The new music block, due to open soon will offer a variety of spaces dedicated to different aspects of musical education. From individual practice rooms to fully equipped sound studios and a performance space, the building is designed to offer top-tier resources that will foster creativity, skill development, and collaboration.
Head of Music, Bethany Wade, said “The whole ethos of this facility is inclusivity. The new music block will have a massive benefit to students, offering more opportunities to take part in workshops with visiting orchestras and community performances. The previous department, whilst very loved and vibrant was over 60 years old and become very tired over the years so we are really looking forward to the new space when it opens.”
The school has already received generous donations of musical instruments including two grand pianos from The Headland Hotel and St Michael’s Church, which will enable the school to showcase more students in concert settings as well as provide one-to-one piano lessons.
The new music block not only enhances the overall educational experience for students but also reinforces the school’s dedication to fostering creativity and excellence in all areas of study. It will enable students to record, produce, and perform music at the highest level, providing them with an invaluable foundation as they pursue careers in music, performance, and composition.
In addition to individual and group practice rooms, the building will house a classroom for music theory, music production, and composition, making it a versatile hub for students of all musical interests and abilities. Whether aspiring to be performers, producers, or composers, students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves fully in the world of music in ways that weren’t previously possible.
“We are so proud to be able to offer our students such a fantastic, purpose-built space for their music education,” said Gemma Harries, Head of Newquay Tretherras. “Music plays an important role in our school’s culture, and with the new music block opening soon, we’re excited to continue providing our students with opportunities to reach their fullest potential.”
As Newquay Tretherras continues to champion the arts, the new music block is just one example of the school’s investment in the future of its students and the community, paving the way for more musicians to explore their creativity, gain invaluable experience, and take their first steps toward a successful career in music.
